Moñecho (pronounced moh-NYEH-koh) is the recording moniker of Williamsport, Pennsylvania native Matthew James Serra. Moñecho blends elements of disparate musical palettes into a cohesive entity, combining elements of experimental rock, folk, ambient, various non-Western musics, classical, and metallic heaviness. This osmosis is a result of the broad and varied interests and studies of the composer, as Matt has studied multiple genres from different instrumentation and perspectives, including flamenco, jazz, electronic sound design, classical, and more. Moñecho compositions are characteristically dense while retaining listenability, using introverted passages to emphasize the extroverted climaxes and vice versa. Matt has recently completed recording Moñecho's debut record Past Waters/Fever Lives, a combination of two song bodies emphasizing opposing but complimentary musical aesthetics.
